Uniroyal Goodrich & Michelin Tire Recall

In October 4, 2004 BFGoodrich Tires began recalling 46,000 passenger and light truck tires after its quality system alerted the company to a condition initially affecting ride quality, but which could possibly result in steel belt separation if not addressed.

This recall includes certain aftermarket Michelin BFGoodrich, Uniroyal, Liberator, Medalist, Phantom and Prospector brand tires manufactured between April 11 and April 24, 2004.

The tires will manifest a lack of adhesion between the steel belt cords and the surrounding rubber matrix that could lead to a tread/belt detachment. Sudden tread separation can result in a tire blow out and loss of control of the vehicle, possibly resulting in a fatal vehicle crash.
