In 2004, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a recall of 2003-2004 models of the Mitsubishi Eclipse and Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder. As fuel leak may result of a defective fuel pump or line hose fitting. In the presence of a ignition source, a fuel leak can result in a serious car fire in a Mitsubishi. An ordinary fender-bender or a more serious collision can generate an ignition spark and lead to life-threatening burns and other fire related injuries.
