Video clip: $54 Million Verdict Against Chrysler

VIDEO

Lieff Cabraser attorneys Robert J. Nelson and Scott Nealey discuss a wrongful death lawsuit based on a transmission defect in millions of Chrysler vehicles.

Vehicle Fires & Explosions

By its nature, an auto fire can significantly increase the risk of injury and death in car accidents and other vehicle crashes. Fire is of particular concern in crashes where the occupants are trapped in their auto, where there are jammed doors, or a collapsed roof. According to the National Fire Protection Association, vehicle fires account for thousands of deaths and injuries and over a billion dollars in property damage each year.

You should not assume that the fire was a "normal" result of the accident. Vehicle fuel systems are designed to avoid breaching and not spill fuel in most accidents. However, car and SUV fires can occur for a variety of reasons, including ones in which another party, such as the manufacturer, bear responsibility for the fire. Fuel leaks, faulty engine switches, and defective tank placement are some of the safety defects that may lead to a fire in an accident and for which the manufacturer of the vehicle can be held liable.

If a fire occurred in your car accident, you may have grounds for filing a lawsuit. Persons that have been injured in a fire after a car, SUV or truck accident are welcome to contact Lieff Cabraser to speak with an auto fire attorney and learn more about their legal rights. There is no charge or obligation for our review of your auto fire case.
