Video clip: $54 Million Verdict Against Chrysler

VIDEO

Lieff Cabraser attorneys Robert J. Nelson and Scott Nealey discuss a wrongful death lawsuit based on a transmission defect in millions of Chrysler vehicles.

Dodge Durango SUV and Dakota Truck Recall

There has been an important recall relating to the Dodge Durango SUV fuel valve defect.

On February 1, 2005, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that DaimlerChrysler AG would be recalling nearly 26,000 Dodge Durango SUVs from the 2005 model year because of a faulty fuel tank filler valve. The valve may not fully close after refueling, which could lead to a fuel leak. In the presence of an ignition source, fuel leakage can pose a serious fire risk.

Dodge Durango SUV Lawsuits

Injured drivers and passengers, and the families of loved ones who have died due to a fire in a Dodge Durango SUV, may bring claims for negligence and a defective product.

Damages sought have included punitive damages for manufacturing SUVs with alleged safety defects and include general and compensatory damages for:

  • Wrongful death;
  • Past and future physical pain and suffering, mental anguish and physical impairment;
  • Past and future medical, incidental and hospital expenses; and
  • Past and future loss of earnings and earning capacity.
