Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP, is investigating
alleged design defects in Saturn Vue sports utility vehicle. As reported
on July 27, 2004, the suspensions on two Saturn Vue SUVs failed during
rollover tests performed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
("NHSTA"), causing the left rear wheels of the vehicles to
collapse. The suspension failures occurred in separate tests of the two-
and four-wheel-drive versions of the Vue, which is made by General Motors.
In response, the NHSTA has commenced an investigation as to why the
failures occurred. NHSTA investigations routinely take more than a
year to complete. Consumer advocates have said that the test results
suggested a flaw in the SUV's design.
General Motors announced it would recall nearly all of its VUE sport
utility vehicles. The recall by the General Motors division affetcs 246,433
VUEs in the 2002-2004 model years, including 231,123 in the United States
and 15,310 in Canada. |
